oh but today's Shutter Sisters' post made me misty eyed.
buu's always been my #1 fan, probably since birth. she's always been an advocate for my writing, my random hobbies and even when i'm wrong, she'll see the right side of things. i think she's a keeper.
and when buu wasn't around, books were a constant source of companionship.

i've known buu all her life (i am older by a year and 3 days). i've known big k since the winter of 1997, our freshman year of college. they're my favorite. just your standard group pose, both pix are of us three at the end of a fun night out.

shawan road is just two lanes. head west and it's a pretty drive. farms, orchards and i think i saw some horses grazing in the fields once. it's a windy road tho and i have a slight headache from the very short drive i took during my lunch break to take pictures. (i get very bad motion sickness, even when i'm the driver.) sitting in traffic one day i noticed a pretty driveway, graveled and lined on either side with trees. and in the distance a white house. so pretty. but by the time i got my camera out, the traffic started moving. i drove back that way again today but there's no shoulder to park my car and it's a rather busy street, even at 1pm. bummer.
so this driveway was a tad bit more secluded.
i may have lived in 4 countries, 3 states and a number of towns/cities but i've always thought of myself as a Marylander. with the exception of the 8 years i lived with my grandparents in Takoma Park/Silver Spring, MD, my stint in Baltimore is the longest i've been in one place, willingly. it'll be 6 years in Sept.
i don't recall the playgrounds of my youth to be as pretty as the one i went to last week during my company's vball game. i thought of trying to snap some of the kids but i didn't want to intrude, and asking permission from their mom seemed very daunting to me. plus, they were moving... no RUNNING and i wouldn't have been able to keep up anyway.

my trusty little digital buddy has a delay shutter which makes it difficult to take actions shots. but once i got the hang of prepping and just being patient, it became easier. surprisingly, i was able to snap quite a bit of action shots of my coworkers playing volleyball. more here.
spent about an hour in patterson park last night.
i find that i look for hearts in everything now. it's rather distracting, but in a good way. i would like to show other facets of love tho. that'll come with time.
i found myself at this church again yesterday. i like the silhouette it creates. plus, it's a beautiful building. i shot this hanging out of my car window.
i sat in the park across the street from my condo building this afternoon, thinking. i thought about last week, about hurtful words that can't be taken back and how some things should just stay as they lay.
standing on jab's front stoop a few nights ago, it stormed something fierce in the county but in the city, it was just gloomy. this was around 6:15pmEST.

driving home one day a few months ago, i stopped at the intersection of Madison and Cathedral. it was late afternoon and i looked up. the First and Franklin Presbyterian Church was looming overhead, the sun was just to the left and the street was quiet. it made a lovely picture. too bad i didn't have my camera with me. so early this week, i pulled over and tooled around the corner and took pix of the street and surrounding buildings. i don't really do people, they move around and i feel intrusive.
