she looked so peaceful i couldn't resist snapping a pic. she reminds me of a friend i have who i haven't spoken to in years, even tho we're facebook buddies.

.for.the.love.of.animals.

my roommate is an animal lover, through and through. i didn't grow up around animals, the token dog i had was a german shepard in africa and she was a guard dog, pretty to look at but not so much to play with. i'm actually quite scared of animals, big or small, cuddly or not. i am drawn to PBS and Discovery channels for their nature documentaries. does that count?

recently, we went to the Baltimore Zoo. she needed her animal fix. since moving in with me 8 weeks ago and realizing that the only pet i have is a cactus plant that i ignore, she's been without. poor dear.



they're not deer. they're something that starts with an "S" and originate from africa. i kept yelling out "Bambi!" tho.



this was also part of the "africa trail". now that i think about it, the Baltimore Zoo has a very good african section.





oh, how i love giraffes. the smallest one kept following the biggest one around. it was adorable. i think i stood there for a good 10 minutes, just gawking at them.



and then the biggest of them all: the elephants. this one was alone, seperate from the other two females. i don't know why. my only criticism of this zoo is that the placards didn't provide much information about the animals beyond what the species were. i wanted to know the names, how they came to the zoo, what their habits were etc. *that* interests me. the Zoo in DC is a bit better, with even more animals. this time around, the polar bears were resting in the shade, the lions weren't doing much and i couldn't find one of the cheetahs.

out on my fire escape my roommate spotted a mama bird who created a nest out of an old flower pot.

she's guarding two eggs.

so my roommate and i will guard over her until her babies hatch.

we've named her Guadalupe.

we're going to be aunts and we love them already!

spent a long weekend in Puerto Rico with jason. during the walk to the beach, we passed a couple. i observed them for a moment. they were oblivious to the lovely water, the palm trees shading them, to people milling about. they were too busy being in love.

i find that nowadays i wake up tired, like i haven't gotten enough sleep. because i really haven't gotten enough sleep. my mornings are spent lethargic, eyes clouded over until the jolt of caffeine kicks in. it never does, at least not during the daylight hours. i come home and later into the evening the pricklings of sleep abate and i toss and turn in my bed, waiting for slumber. only to have the cycle start again and i am back to being torpid, mind blowingly ... tired. and the grey mornings of late winter does not help.

spring is finally around the corner. march is over halfway over already. i am hopeful. just for the sunshine and warmth. for the country to claw our way out of this economic slump. march madness starts today! (my alma mater made it to the dance and tho they probably will not advance beyond the first round, i really am excited for the Highlanders!)

and that these braces will make my teeth straighter much faster than anticipated and they'll come out sooner. :)

i took this picture upside down. well, actually, at a weird angle. i think this quote "live laugh love" is so true. it means something, or it should. and as i get older, it's something i want my everyday to be like.

i seriously love this parking lot. it's a converted warehouse. the ground is dirty and there are piles of drift wood. the glass windows are tall and high up, there are some even broken. it's a haven for picturing taking, in the morning or evening. i can't wait for the weather to warm up so i can stand to be outside snapping away.

i'm not so tired of taking pictures every morning, between the hours of 7 to 10am, but i am tired of having to post it on this blog. i'm up in arms as to what kind of photography blog i want to do. like a diary? one that chronicles my everyday life? no i already offer alot of myself in my craft/food blog. there is only so much of my life i can put on display. so for now, i will just post random finds that i capture and maybe i'll have sage words of wisdom. or not.
